Introduction: The MILSATCOM Joint Program Office announces the Advanced
MILSATCOM Architecture Review. The seminar, scheduled for 21-22 June
1995, at Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, CA is intended to brief
industry on the results of the recent DOD Architecture study and to
gain feedback from industry. This information will be used in further
development of the MILSATCOM Architecture Plan. Industry feedback
should focus on option feasibility and remaining trade studies.
Concept: The objective of the MILSATCOM Architecture Study is to define
the next generation of military communications satellites. The
information presented at this seminar will directly support the
MILSATCOM Architecture Study. The seminar will also provide a unique
opportunity for the MILSATCOM community, both Industry and Government,
to discuss advanced concepts for future systems and ongoing efforts to
achieve these goals. The Government is actively seeking information for
the Architecture Plan. Technical information sought includes, but is
not limited to, various communication concepts and designs, modular
on-board architectures, network control architectures and terminal
interface issues. Technology development and trends with associated
risks and the ROM cost breakdown by major subsystems should be included
in the information provided. Seminar: The seminar will be held 21-22
June 1995 at Aerospace Corporation, 2350 E. El Segundo Blvd, El
Segundo, CA, Building A-8, starting at 8:00 AM. The first part of the
seminar on the 21st will be a briefing on the results of Phase 2 of the
Architecture Study. Emphasis will be placed on the Architecture option
downselect discriminators and proposed schedules. On the 22nd,
contractors will be invited to provide feedback to the previous day's
presentation. A Government-only audience may be requested. Information
provided to the Government may be in any format (please be concise),
and may be proprietary if required. A formal request for information
will also be presented at the seminar. The representatives of
prospective sources will be invited to either brief their concepts on
25-26 July or provide written response to Joseph P. Schleifer at 2420
Vela Way, Suite 1467-A8, Los Angeles AFB, CA 90245-4659 by 28 July 95.
Responders are cautioned that only contracting officers are legally
authorized to commit the Government. This request is for information
only, not a request for proposal, and does not commit the Government to
pay for preparation costs. Responders are advised that no contract will
be awarded solely on the basis of a response hereto or any follow-up
information subsequently submitted. The Government is not planning to
contract for any particular effort at this time, rather, this
information will be used to develop future technology plans and pursue
future technology projects. Administrative details: The seminar will
be UNCLASSIFIED. Visit requests must be sent by COB 16 June 1995 to:
