Interested SDB concerns should notify this office, in writing, of their intention to bid the project as prime contractor as early as possible, but not later than 15 days from the date of this notice. The notification must contain a positive statement of eligibility as a small socially and economically disadvantaged business concern; evidence in the form of a letter from Bonding Co. of capacity to obtain required bonds and specific information which demonstrates the capability to perform projects of this nature and magnitude. If adequate interest is not received from SDB concerns, the solicitation will be issued as an unrestricted procurement without further notice. Therefore, replies to this notice are requested from all firms including large businesses. Interested parties will be put on the planholders list and issued an IFB when available. The work involves renovation of an existing two-story and basement masonry and brick building (#183) to a combination of enclosed offices and open office plan. Plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems will be replaced; new stairs and elevator combinations are to be provided. A new wet pipe sprinkler system is to be installed. Some civil and utility work is included. Requests for plans and specifications may be mailed to the above address or request may be sent via fax by using fax #(202)-433-0939. Contractors within the local area are urged to pick-up a copy of the solicitation at Building 212, lst floor, plans & specs room, at the Washington Navy Yard. The hours of operation for Plans & Specs are 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. There will be no charge for these documents, however, there will only be one set issued per contractor. Requests for plans & specs and bidders lists should be made separately. Please note that plans & specs will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis. The projected date of issuance of plans and specs is 6 July 1995. The projected date for bid opening is 6 August 1995. The estimated cost of construction for this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. (0159)
