Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) Technology Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Trunking Communication System for the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). USS Kitty Hawk currently has a ''conventional'' radio system on board and the existing Repeaters and Combiners must be modified to work with the trunking controller in a trunked radio system. System must operate in the 450-470 MHz band. System will be a 5 channel, single site configuation, but must be expandable to a 14 channel configuration for future use. System must be Digital Encryption Standard encryption capable. Internal communications will be transmitted and received by a radiating transmission line (RTL) antenna system. External communications will be transmitted and received by a single mast mounted antenna. All transmit and receive frequencies will bne combined onto the same antenna. There must be two (2) separate failure modes of operation. Physical installation and wiring of all equipment on board ship will be accomplished by Government representatives. System set-up, testing, operational and maintenance training shall be provided by the Contractor. Contractor shall verify that all personnel involved with shipboard tasks have a minimum of a Confidential security clearance. Contractor shall provide equipment mounting and installation drawings to the Government upon award of contract. Equipment wiring and hookup drawings shall be provided prior to installation. Installation will be performed on board the USS Kitty Hawk at the North Island Naval Air Station, San Diego, CA and must be complete no later than 25 Aug 95. Telephone requests are unacceptable.
