THE SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY AND INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS SYMPOSIUM (STISS 95) SN95-08. POC Mr. Mark Gersh, ARPA/SISTO, POC, FAX: (703)522-6367. The Advanced Research Projects Agency's Software and Intelligent Systems Technology Office (SISTO) will hold a symposium at the Westfields International Conference Center in Chantilly, Virginia on August 28-31, 1995. The theme of the symposium centers on the evolution of information technology and its effect on waging war and maintaining peace. Software and intelligent systems technology plays a significant role in achieving the Revolution in Military Affairs key elements of Information Dominance, Long-range Precision Strike, and Dominating Maneuver. Sprinkled throughout this event will be presentations and demonstrations of technologies and applications supporting various aspects of these three elements as well as talks by senior leaders on their perspectives concerning the impact of information-based warfare on military doctrine and defense strategy. The symposium opens on Monday evening with a dinner, social hour and an opportunity to leisurely explore the exhibits and demonstrations of SISTO technology. Tuesday begins with a keynote address highlighting the information-based warfare vision of the future as it has evolved out of experiences in engagements like Desert Storm. The day then focuses on SISTO technologies and applications supporting the operations, intelligence, and engineering & acquisition communities. Wednesday and Thursday showcase tracks on SISTO's core technology development and research in intelligent systems, software engineering, and design & manufacturing. Wednesday evening concludes with talks by senior industry executives on the role that their sector plays within the information-based warfare vision. The symposium closes on Thursday afternoon with a series of plenary talks by senior Department of Defense officials charged with the responsibility of implementing the information-based warfare vision. The registration fee will be $350 thru July 31 and $400 after July 31. Daily registration is available at $180 per day for Tuesday and Wednesday and $120 for Thursday.
