The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) has need for acquisition, installation, alignment, and testing for a point to point digital microwave communications system, operating approximately three (3) miles between Little Sand Island and the USS Alabama Memorial Park both located in Mobile Bay, AL. The system will consist of; a) two Gabriel SE-Series Standard Parabolic Antennas, Model Number RFG4-71, b) two Digital Microwave Corporation DMC Model 8M microwave systems, c) construction of one stand alone microwave antenna tower according to Navy supplied specifications and on Navy supplied concrete pads, d) construction of one custom microwave antenna mount and building support according to Navy specifications, e) all necessary connecting interface equipment, and f) physically connecting all electrical power, communication, microwave and commercial data resources equipment. This system is to be delivered as a turn-key system, fully operational and in compliance with all local ordinances and equipment specifications. A two year on-site parts and labor warranty for the entire system is required. Operating frequency assignments and equipment allocations will be provided by the Navy. This system is part of a data communication system that is to operate between the ex-USS Shadwell in Mobile AL and the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC, and as such must interface with commercial data communications assets to be used between the Mobile Al and the Washington DC sites.
