Officer:LISA REA, Tel:713-483-8395 Aqueous Phase Catalytic Oxidation
Subsystem (APOS) --An aqueous phase catalytic oxidation subsystem
(APCOS) is required for post-treating reclaimed water from waste water
pocessed in a water recovery system (WRS). The waste water is
generated by a crew in a closed life support system and it is purified
and recycled for reuse. The APCOS in the WRS as a stream at nominal
concentrations of 50ppm total organic carbon impurity to (500 ppb TOC.
The APCOS will also provide disinfection. A flow-through process that
processes a quantity of 100 L (220 lbs) of reclaimed water in 20 hours
is required. The size needed is 24.5'' Wide X 18.5'' Deep X 24.5'' High
with weight of approximately 100 lbs. Operation on 110 volt, 60 cycle
is required. Three distinct modes of operating the APOCS are required:
(1) manual control with automated shutdown safing provisions; (2)
local automated control; and (3) external automated control. --Hamilton
Standard Space Systems International, Inc. --Delivery of 1 APCOS unit.
--All items will be delivered to the Johnson Space Center, Houston TX.
--All items shall be delivered by 10/1/95. --Numberd Note 22. The
Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source.
--Hamilton Standard is the only company with the facilities and
expertise to meet the Government requirements. Hamilton Standard has
developed a proprietary process for providing the requirements for
removal of residual organic impurities and microbial contamination in
reclaimed water. Hamilton standard has the existing special tooling,
manufacturing and test facilities, designs, documentation, special
fabrication procedures and equipment to support this effort. This
procurement is being conducted under the NASA Johnson Space Center
Mid-range procedures. (0163) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0518 19950613\99-0001.SOL)
