Richard Banks, 303/969-6514. The Bureau of Land Management, Ukiah
Distsrict Office, CA, proposes to contract for a Water Shed Restoration
Plan. The contractor shall provide a final report which includes a)
road construction history and maintenance status of roads in the Bear
and Honeydew Creek watersheds, b) evaluation and recommendations for
all stream channel crossings and spring areas with high potential for
water diversion or sediment yield, c) cursory and detailed maps of
significant erosion sites, erosion sources with high potential for
sediment delivery which include detailed data describing rehabilitation
needs, volume of material needed to remove for rehabilitation, and
associated cost estimates. d) recommendations for high restoration
priority areas and systematic restoration, within each watershed, e)
presentation of potential trade-offs possibly encountered when
disturbing sites for restoration work that have currently have
significant growth of vegetation. f) report recommendations regarding
road maintenance practices which might be altered or improved to lessen
watershed impacts from future land use activities. Honeydew Creek and
Bear Creek are two of the largest tributaries to the Mattole river
located in northwestern California. Bear Creek drains an area of
approximately 16,000 acres, Honeydew Creek drains approximately 11,000
acres. The performance period of the contract is approximately eight
