COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 14,1995 PSA#1367National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Subcontracts Section, M/S
1320-17/2, 1617 Cole Boulevard, Golden, CO 80401-3393 B -- SOLAR THERMAL COMPONENT MANUFACTURING FOR NEAR-TERM MARKETS SOL
SYNOPSIS NO. 5-366. POC Kristin Bombeck, Sr. Subcontract Administrator,
(303) 384-7428, Randy Ector, Group Leader, Subcontracts Section (303)
275-3176. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) anticipates
issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) in mid 1995 for projects to
resolve issues on the large-scale manufacture of solar thermal electric
components and/or systems for near-term markets. The main objectives of
this RFP will be to assist manufacturers with development of
manufacturing processes that reduce cost and improve the quality of
components for solar thermal electric power technology and to better
meet the needs of component markets that will exist between now and the
early part of the next decade. This project addresses manufacturing
issues associated with existing solar thermal component/system designs;
development on new solar thermal components and system designs will not
be allowed in this RFP. Proposed work may address any of the three
major solar thermal electric technology areas: power tower, parabolic
trough, and dish/engine. Heliostat manufacturing has been addressed in
a previous RFP and will not be considered under this solicitation.
Projects will be carried out in two phases, the first being the
development of new manufacturing methods or processes with projections
of cost savings and the second phase involving validation through
small production runs. Multiple awards are possible, and offerors will
be expected to provide a significant industry cost share.
Organizations desiring a copy of the solicitation setting forth the RFP
requirements should make a written request within 30 days of this
announcement to Kristin Bombeck at the above address, or via facsimile
at (303) 384-7419. This synopsis is not a Request for Proposals.
