Mattson, Contracting Officer, 301/402-4509. The National Cancer
Institute, Laboratory of Pathology, plans to procure on a SOLE SOURCE
BASIS, under authority of FAR 6.302-1, in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253
(c)(1), Image Analysis System Upgrades for a workstation presently
equipped with Universal Imaging Corporation Imag-1/Fluor software and
hardware. The upgrades will be furnished and installed by Universal
Imaging Corporation, 502 Brandywine Parkway, West Chester, PA 19380.
The system upgrades shall have the following minimum required
specifications. All components MUST interface with the Universal
Imaging Corporation MetaMorpg/MetaFluor software and hardware. (1)
System Workstation: IBM-compatible computer with 1Gb hard drive, 48Mb
RAM, 586 (Pentium processor, operating at 60Mhz or greater), EISA
backplane (one PCI port acceptable), 2 serial and 2 parallel ports,
mouse port, 2 floppy drives (3.5~ and 5.25~), math-coprocessor, 1.3Gb
optical drive, transfer of existing 128Mb optical drive to new system,
16 bit MetaMorph/MetaFluor software including new proprietary hardware
imaging boards. System is equipped with Microsoft Windows Version 3.1
or greater and Microsoft DOS, Version 6.22 or greater. The contractor
shall have the choice of system case (mini or full tower). The
contractor shall test the system prior to installation and provide
documentation that the IBM 586 processing chip is free from defects in
terms of math errors by cross-checking this chip with the manufacturer
(INTEL) or performing to the satisfaction of the purchaser that
random-errors during division as stated in the computer industry are
absent. (2) Digital CCD Cameras: Low light fluorescent detector
upgrades to replace current VS2525 CCD intensifier. These include 12
bit high-resolution Penta-Max 1317-K air-cooled CCD camera along with
controller and digitizers, software drivers, adapters to mount on
existing Nikon microscope, Gen III low light Videoscope intensifier and
camera along with high resolution and high sensitivity options capable
of 57 line pairs/mm and 50% photocathode quantum efficiency. All
necessary cabling and connections are supplied. (3) Stage and Focus
Modifications: The purchase of a motorized stage capable of movement in
the X-Y direction, including stage controller, interfaced with the
Universal Imaging Corporation MetaMorpg/MetaFluor software and
hardware. Z-axis focus drive motor for Nikon microscope and motor
control board interfaced with Universal Imaging Corporation
MetaMorph/MetaFluor software and hardware. Transmitted light shutter,
high speed (Vincent Associates VS25S1WO), modified for mounting on
Nikon inverted microscope, digital controller, and interfaced with
Universal Imaging Corporation MetaMorph/MetaFluor software and
hardware. It is the Government's belief that the above specifications
can only be met by Universal Imaging Corporation. This notice of intent
is not a request for competitive proposals, however, interested parties
may identify their interest and capability to respond to the
requirement. Information furnished shall include enough material, in
sufficient detail, to perform a proper evaluation of their ability to
perform. Closing date is 45 days after publication of this notice. See
