for commercial off the shelf Distance Education Software. The Marine
Corps Institute is researching the availability of an integrated
software suite to manage its distance education program. Current
platform is HP 3000, Model 937 MPE/IX operating system and Turbo Image
database. Options include moving to an IBM 3090 and AMDAHL 5890
mainframe computer under MVS/XA; Ada (client server); and or a new
mini-computer within the SNA family. Software functions to be supported
include: Course Development (writing, editing, printing); Course
Material Stockage (warehousing); Course Management
(opening/advertising, revising/maintaining, obtaining accreditation,
statistically analyzing student performance, reporting,
closing/archiving); Student Management (enrolling, grading, assisting,
certifying course completion, mailing transcripts, posting
enrollment/exporting completed information to human resource records;
and Course Material Handling/Shipping (bundling, mailing, disposing).

requirements outlined in this announcement. This information is for
