30305 J -- PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AND EMERGENCY REPAIR OF EQUIPMENT

POC Contact Johnnie Thomas at (404)842-6553 Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a noncompetitive contract to
Perkin Elmer/Applied Biosystems Division, for emergency
repair/preventative maintenance of approximately 110 items of existing
Government-owned equipment located in Atlanta, Georgia, Ft. Collins,
Colorado, and Chamblee Georgia. CDC also intends to purchase
miscellaneous reagent products, hardware and software upgrades that are
essential to maintain and operate the equipment under the sole source
contract. The basis for the sole source procurement is to continue the
replacement/repair warranty by the manufacturer. The contract will be
awarded by November 1, 1995 for a base period of one year, with four
(4) one-year option periods. Essential requirements of the contract
include: (1) diagnosis and repair of equipment breakdowns within 24
hours (desired)/72 hours (required); (2) Technicians certified by
Applied Biosystems for repair/maintenance; (3) Software and hardware
upgrades must be provided within 30 days after release and technicians
must be certified by Applied Biosystems for repair/maintenance of such
upgrades upon installation; (4) supplies (reagents) furnished must be
those currently utilized in continuing research to avoid duplication or
loss of essential research effort; (5)unconditional warranty of
equipment repairs and maintenance for 90 days following service. The
foregoing requirements are essential to protect research efforts and
the public health. A complete listing of equipment items and reagents

requirements may submit information demonstrating the capability to
comply for purposes of use in determining whether or not the government
