Assistance Division, Building 301, Room Bll7, Gaithersburg, MD 20899 R -- INTERAGENCY METRIC CONVERSION SUPPORT SOL 52SBNB5C8763 DUE 080195
POC Sandra Febach (301) 975-6326/C.O. Ruth Maris The National Institute
of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement to provide support
for implementation of the Department of Commerce's plan for metric
conversion. In March, 1995 a Metric Town Meeting was held at NIST;
speakers from businesses, trade and professional groups, educators, and
state governments explained their concerns and ideas for accelerating
national metrication to a panel of government executives representing
most of the major Federal agencies. NIST requires contractor support to
continue the efforts begun at the Metric Town Meeting. Working with the
Metric Program at NIST, the contractor will be responsible for
developing agendas and time schedules for up to six town
meetings/workshops. Each town meeting/workshop will be goal oriented
and will include panel presentations from 1 to 3 panels (each
consisting of 3 to 5 speakers). The development and planning stage of
this project requires expert knowledge of national metrication issues
(including industrial metrication, state metrication, and proactive
metric system use in education and in trade and commerce). Contractor
shall provide all necessary services to accomplish these town
meetings/workshops, including: site selection, speaker recommendations,
attendee promotion/invitations, attendee registration, and pre-meeting
information and data collection. The town meetings/workshops may be
held throughout the nation, with participants from extremely varied
backgrounds and interests. The period of performance is expected to be
approximately 16 months. It is anticipated that the type of contract
will be firm-fixed-price. The applicable SIC code is 8748. All
responsible sources may submit an offer, which will be considered by
the agency. See numbered Note 1. All requests for the solicitation must
be in writing. Requests may be submitted by FAX to (301) 963-7732.
