Y -- GOVERNMENT OF JAMAICA MINISTRY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND WORKS: NORTHERN JAMAICA DEVELOPMENT PROJECT OECF LOAN NO. JM-P5, NORTHERN COASTAL HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT SUB-PROJECT Invitation for prequalification of contractors. The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) has secured a loan from the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF) of Japan to assist in financing the Northern Jamaica Development Project (NJDP). The Ministry of Local Government and Works (MLGW), the Implementing Agency for the Northern Coastal Highway Improvement Sub-Project, acting on behalf of GOJ, invites Contractors from eligible source countries of the OECF who are interested in tendering for the forthcoming construction contract, to submit prequalification applications. Prequalification is a prerequisite for tendering. The contract comprises the supply of all materials for and construction of approximately 25 km of new two lane highway, 16 km of reconstruction of two lane highway on existing alignment, 28 km of overlay of two lane highway, construction of 10 new bridges, and rehabilitation of 8 existing bridges. Only Contractors with proven track records in the above described works need apply and will be required to submit detailed information on their organization, previous relevant experience (including work in developing countries), financial status, plant and equipment availability. The prescribed format for submission of the prequalification information will be provided to all interested Contractors on receipt of their request to the Ministry of Local Government and Works in writing at the address above or by fax at 809 978 7517. No requests by telephone will be accepted. Completed Prequalification questionnaires must be submitted to arrive no later than 12:00 noon on Monday July 31, 1995 at the above address. MLGW shall not be bound to give any reason for not prequalifying any applicant and shall not be responsible for defraying any cost incurred by applicants. (164)
