Department of Defense initiated a Business Process Reengineering effort
which concluded in July 1994 and initiated the creation of the Records
Management Task Force in January 1995. The Department of Defense is
sponsoring the 2nd Annual DoD ``Managing Information As Records''
Conference and Exposition scheduled for the week of August 28, 1995 -
August 31, 1995 in Memphis, Tennessee. Last year the conference was
held in Atlanta, Georgia. This year the conference will take place at
the Best Western Memphis Airport Hotel & Executive Conference Center
(formerly the Hilton). Key issues that will be addressed and
highlighted at this years's Conference & Exposition will be: - Digital
Media (Life-Cycle Costs and Media Integrity - Evidentiary Requirements
for Electronic Records - Diplomatic and Archival Science - Planning and
Policy for Automated Document Conversion - Government Information
Locator Services (GILS) - DoD Mail Messaging in the 21st Century - And
Much More. Two major highlights of this years conference are Mr. Jason
Baron, Department of Justice, who will be speaking on the update of
Armstrong Vs. Executive Office of the President, and Mr. Thornton May,
renowned empiricist, who will be our keynote luncheon speaker on
