COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF june 19,1995 PSA#1370Contracting Officer, Naval Research Laboratory, Attn: Code 3220.GP 4555
Overlook Avenue, S.W., Washington, DC 20375-5326 66 -- MODIFICATIONS TO EXISTING ION BEAM ACCELERATOR SOL
N00014-95-R-GP08 POC Geoffrey B. Pennoyer, Contract Specialist, Code
3220.GP, Contracting Officer, Wayne A. Carrington (202) 767-2550. The
Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for Modifications to an
Existing Ion Accelerator. This will be one of six subsystems that will
comprise a to-be-built Trace Element Accelerator Mass Spectrometer
(TEAMS). The modification must be compatible with an existing National
Electrostatics Corporation Model 9SDH-2 tandem ion accelerator machine
purchased in 1987 with a 3 MV terminal potential. The subsystem will
consist of the following line items: an electrostatic quadropole
triplet lens, a high voltage power supply equal to a Glassman Model No.
MK15P5 (HV DC Power Module), a bellows, and solid state relays.
Optional items include: beam defining slits equal to a National
Electrostatics Corporation Model BDS5 - Part No. 2EA003450 (4-Jaw Slit
System), Faraday cups equal to a National Electrostatics Corporation
Model No. FC18 - Part No. 2EA025000, high voltage power supply, flanges
and their hardware, roughing valves, cables, vacuum gauges equal to a
Balzers Model No. PKR 250 - Part No. BG G20 002 (Compact Full Range
Vacuum Gauge), tesla meters equal to Group 3 Technology LTD Model No.
DTM-141-PS, tesla meter probes equal to Group 3 Technology LTD Model
No. LPT- 141-7, a terminal potential stabilizing system equal to a
National Electrostatics Corporation Model TPS-6.0 with Capacitive Pick
Off (CPO) ''derivative control,'' and remote control capability for
the NEC 9SDH-2 Pelletron accelerator, and Logarithmic amplifiers equal
to a National Electrostatics Corporation Part No. 2HA032160. This
subsystem must be self-contained and capable of integrating completely
with the other five TEAMS subsystems and the existing equipment. An
overriding consideration in all of these subsystems is the necessity to
transmit as much of the beams of interest as possible (100% is
desired). Each ion optical component is to include ion optical
elements, internal support structures, alignment tools, vacuum chamber
and flanges, manuals and safety protection devices to enable useful
operation of the equipment. Telephone requests for this requirement
will not be honored. If a non-availability notice is desired, furnish
a self-addressed envelope. Send requests for solicitation
