In support of the Space Science Data Operations Office (SSDOO) Computing Facility, NASA/GSFC intends to enter into a sole source purchase order with Titan Storage Management Technologies of Reston, VA for the acquisition of the Cygnet 1803 subsystem upgrade. Request for Quotation (RFQ) RFQ5-35907/985 will be issued as the vehicle to obtain the system upgrade. This acquisition will be done pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c) (1)--only one responsible source. The hardware being acquired allows the existing jukebox to be expanded to hold 80 more optical disk platters which will increase the original storage capacity by 500 gigabytes. The item to be procured is a backend cabinet for Cygnet 1802 jukebox. The SSDOO uses the cygnet jukebox to archive NASA mission data which in turn is made available to the public through wide area networks. Titan is the only company authorized by the jukebox manufacturer that can install and obtain parts for this backend upgrade.
