The Library of Congress requires a turn-key audio system capable of providing the highest quality playback, monitoring, and recording capabilities to assist in preserving its audio collections and making transfer copies of those collections for digital access. The permanent audio collections are in the custody of the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division. The 3,000,000 audio recordings cover the entire range of media from ealiest cylinders, through the entire scope of discs and tapes to the most recent forms and materials capable of holding reproducing audio. This RFP is for the integration of the entire system to include design and configuration of the equipment in a productive modular manner, purchase of all necessary equipment and parts; installation of the equipment at the Library, Washington, DC, demonstration of the operation of all components; staff training for full equipment operation and functions and maintenance.
