A -- DIGITAL BATHYMETRIC DATA MERGED WITH NAVIGATION POC Daniel R. Gomez, (303) 497-5133 In the absence of other qualified sources it is the intent of the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce to acquire digital bathymetric data from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX 77845, under ''other than full and open competition'' procedures, pursuant to USC 253 (c)(1) - only one resposible source. The proposed contract is for digital single-beam bathymetry merged with navigation from the following cruises: (i) one 1994 cruise of the YAKOV SMIRNITSKY in the Pechora and Kara seas, totaling 40 days; (ii) one 1994 cruise of the JW POWELL off west Africa, totaling 50 days; (iii) one 1995 cruise of an unnamed Russian vessel in the Bering and Laptev seas, totaling 60 days; and (iv) one 1995 cruise of the JW POWELL off west Africa, totaling 75 days. Bathymetry shall be digitized at shiptime intervals necessary to define peaks, valleys and changes in slope; at no time shall the digitizing interval exceed 5-minute shiptime. Data shall be provided to NGDC in ASCII format on one of the following mediums: 9-track magnetic tape at 1600 or 6250 bpi, exabyte, ftp, or CD-ROM. The format, content, and unit of depth shall conform to MGD77 specifications. No other qualified source is known that can provide this data in these remote regions. Concerns having the capability to furnish this digital bathymetric data must submit a written qualification statement that clearly establishes its capability to provide the above data. This qualification statement shall be submitted to the individual and office cited above within 45 days from the publication date of this synopsis. This is NOT a formal solicitation.
