Rose, 202-205-5414, Fax 202-205-5466 SOURCES SOUGHT - The United States Information Agency, The Voice of America (VOA) is seeking a partner or co-developer in developing and marketing a computerized audio pronunciation guide system as an on-line, network or stand alone service. The digital audio VOA Pronunciation Guide supports a 24 hour news operation in 47 languages by providing up-to-the-minute and authoritative pronunciation of names, places and things in international news for use by VOA's professional staff. The Guide is suitable for commercial marketing to media, business, home, government and educational organizations in the United States and abroad. VOA needs technical assistance to develop hardware and software for the Guide. The current dictionary has 50,000 pronunciations as well as background information such as second reference or honorifics. Barter, exchange or other arrangements will be considered. VOA seeks underwriting from the private sector. Firms having the ability to develop and market a computerized audio pronunciation guide system as described and are requested to provide written notification to the procurement office stated above within thirty (30) calendar days of the date of this synopsis.
