NOTICE: Provide all labor, material, equipment, transportation and
supervision for foundation repairs and shore protection at Straitsmouth
lighthouse, Straitsmouth Island, Rockport, MA (Essex County). Work
includes minor repairs to a section of the lighthouse foundation which
has been undermined. Repairs include stabilization of a portion of
unseated wall, replacement of a portion of wall which has been washed
out, sealing of cracks and joints, minor excavation and backfill,
pointing, and touch-up work. The shore protection portion involves site
clearing, placement of filter fabric, bedding material, underlayer, and
armor stone on the beach. The quantity of stone involved is estimated
at approx. 1800 tons. Estimated cost is between $100,000 and $250,000.
Plans and specs issue on or about July 3, 1995. A NON-REFUNDABLE FEE
IN THE AMOUNT OF $20.00 WILL BE REQUIRED FOR THE BID PACKAGE. Bid

supply is exhausted. This procurement is open to large and small
businesses. Bid opening will be on or about 08/02/95 at place of issue.
INFORMATION PERTAINING TO MINORITY, WOMEN-OWNED AND DISADVANTAGED
ENTERPRISES: The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and
Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) has programs to assist
minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire
short-term working capital and bonding assistance for
transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible
prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program
enables firms to apply for bid, payment, and performance bonds up to
$1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on
the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under
the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to
provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is
