COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 21,1995 PSA#1372Naval Research Laboratory, Attn: Code 3220.GP07 4555 Overlook Avenue,
SW Washington, DC 20375-5326 66 -- LOW ENERGY ION BEAMLINE SUBSYSTEM SOL N00014-95-R-GP07 POC
Geoffrey Pennoyer, Contract Specialist, Code 3220.GP, Contracting
Officer, Wayne A. Carrington (202) 767-2550. The Navy Research
Laboratory has a requirement for a low-energy-ion beamline. This will
be one of six subsystems that will comprise a to-be-built Trace Element
Accelerator Mass Spectrometer (TEAMS). The TEAMS low energy ion
beamline must be compatible with an existing tandem ion accelerator
facility which is a National Electrostatics Corporation 9SDH-2 machine
purchased in 1987 with a 3 MV terminal potential. The subsystem will
consist of the following line items, doubly achromatic single magnet
with a dispersed image plane (also known as a Pretzel magnet, or an
Achromatic magnetic mirror, or a Recombinator), Einzel lens equal to
National Electrostatics Corporation Model No. EL44-50 - Part No.
2EA061550, X-Y Electrostatic Steerer/Pump Tee equal to National
Electrostatics Corporation Model ES5 - Part No. 2EA060252, HV DC Power
Module equal to Glassman Model No. MK50N1.5, Compact Full Range Vacuum
Gauge equal to Balzers Model PKR 250 - Part No. BG G20 002, cryopump
with accessories, two vacuum bellows, two gate valves, flanges and
flange hardware. Optional components are, Electrostatic Steerer/Pump
Tee equal to National Electrostatics Corporation Model No. ES5 - Part
No. 2EA060251, cryopump with compressor and accessories, three gate
valves, a welded metal bellows, a custom vacuum chamber, a Faraday cup,
flanges and flange hardware, two Compact Full Range Vacuum Gauges equal
to Balzers Model PKR 250 - Part No. BG G20 002, a tesla meter equal to
a Group 3 Technology LTD Model DTM-141-PS, Probe for teslameter equal
to a Group 3 Technology LTD Model LPT-141-7, a vacuum tee, a beamline
insulator, and two picoammeters. This subsystem must be capable of
low-energy-ion transport, filtering, and injection into the NEC
accelerator. It must be self-contained and integrate completely with
the other five TEAMS subsystems and the existing facility. An
overriding consideration in all of these subsystems is the necessity to
transmit as much of the beams of interest as possible (100% is
desired). Each ion optical component is to include ion optical
elements, internal support structures, alignment tools, vacuum changer
and flanges, manuals and safety protection devices to enable useful
operation of the equipment. Telephone requests for this requirement
will not be honored. If a non-availability notice is desired, furnish
a self-addressed envelope. Send requests for solicitation
