DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR,, U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, MS 204, 12201 SUNRISE VALLEY DRIVE,, RESTON, VA 22092

58 -- TRANSMITTER/RECEIVER FOR RAMAC BOREHOLE RADAR SYSTEM SOL 95-4409-2090 DUE 063095 POC Purchasing Agent, Jody Page, 703-648-7396 The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Water Resources Division (WRD), anticipates making a non-competitive award in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) as implemented in FAR 6.302(1) with TerraPlus Inc. of Littleton, Colorado for a 22Mhz transmitter and a 22Mhz receiver for the RAMAC Borehole Radar System which is manufactured by ABEM, Inc. of Mala, Sweden. These lower frequency antennas would increase penetration range of the system and allow the system to be used in formations with resistivities that are too low for the 60Mhz antenna. The antennas must be capable of operating at 22Mhz with an existing USGS-owned RAMAC Borehole Radar System in the non directional and hole- to-hole tomography modes. The antennas must fit in a 2'' diameter borehole and be powered with a down-hole battery. The antennas must be capable of being operated by the proprietary RAMAC soft- ware installed on the USGS system. This antenna design is pro- prietary and manufactured specifically for the RAMAC system. The proposed contract is 100% set aside for small business concerns. No solicitation package exists at this time. Award will be made under Simplified Acquisition procedures. Sources, who believe that they are capable of providing the required antennas, may submit in writing an affirmative response within 15 calendar days from the date that this publication first appears. An affirmative response must include but not be limited to offered product, price lists, warranties, and any additional information indicating a bona fide ability to meet this specific requirement as described above. All responses from respons- ible sources will be fully considered. As a result of analyzing responses to this synopsis of intent, the contracting officer may determine that a Request for Quote (RFQ) will be issued. If a RFQ is issued, no additional synopsis will be published. Any such RFQ will be issued to the intended vendor and all firms that respond to this synopsis of intent or otherwise request a copy of the solicitation. (0171)
