Russell (703) 648-7366 This is not a notice for a solicitation. This
a notification to firms announcing that the U.S. Geological Survey
(USGS) will take possession of CA-Unicenter on a trial installation.
This is also a request for Information and products for demonstration.
The USGS requests information from firms which can provide UNIX-based,
client server management software. This package must be able to
accommodate various UNIX systems as well as OS/2 and OS/400 executing
in various places on the network. This package must also have the
capability of integrating with other management applications as well as
Novell and MVS. The package should include, but not be limited to, the
following features: Security, Workload Management and Scheduling,
Calendar Management, Backup and Archive Management, Tape Integrity,
Problem Management and Help Desk, Console Management, Resource
Accounting and Chargeback, Report Distribution and Spool Management,
Performance Monitoring, Customization and Relational Database
Management System. Vendors interested in supplying production
information or products for evaluation are invited to respond. Products
to be demonstrated are limited to the above computer specifications.
Neither a draft statement of work nor specifications are available from
the USGS. Any pricing information submitted that contains restrictions
on its disclosure will be returned to the vendor. No formal
solicitation or contract will result from this synopsis for industry
information; any subsequent solicitation will be synopsized prior to
its release. Any resulting solicitation will NOT be conducted on a
sole-source basis. All responses, including technical and commercially
available pricing information, must be received by July 30, 1995.
Vendors interested in providing products for demonstration should state
so specifically in their WRITTEN response. Vendors will be contacted to
arrange for receipt of the products for demonstration. No telephone
requests will be accepted. The Government does not intend to pay for
the information solicited except as provided in subsection 31.205-18,
Bid and proposal (B&P) costs, of the Federal Acquisition Regulation.
