293-3354. The Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center is
seeking information regarding commercially available Window Films for
potential shipboard use. The basic requirement is for a scratch
resistant, optically clear, transparent window film with a reflective
coating to reduce energy transmission, which can be applied to the
interior surface of glass windows using conventional window film
application techniques. The film should include, but is not limited to,
the following layers: 1) a scratch resistant coating or outer layer, 2)
an optically clear polyester ( or similar material) film approximately
1 mil thick, 3) an electrically conductive coating, 4) an adhesive
film, and 5) a release liner to protect the adhesive prior to
application of the Window Film. It must be available in rolls 3 feet
wide by approximately 60 feet long. Performance requirements include:
1) Visible Light transmission greater than 65% at 550 nanometers, which
remains greater than 60% and uniform in color after 1000hrs of aging in
a QUV Weatherometer, 2) RF Transmission Loss greater than or equal to
15dB over the range from 2GHz to 18GHz, 3) Washability with a general
purpose detergent and water, and 4) Resistance to scratching in the
course of normal cleaning or routine use. Submissions relative to this
