received in Gatt document TBT/Notification G/95.170 dated 7 June 1995.
1. Member to Agreement Notifying: Republic of Korea. If applicable,
name of local government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency
responsible: Ministry of Environment (MOE). 3. Notified under Article
2.9.2, 2.10.1, 5.6.2, 5.7.1, other. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN
where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be
provided in addition, where applicable): Bottled water (natural mineral
water). 5. Title and number of pages of the notified document:
Modification of draft bottled water regulation. 6. Description of
Content: A provision on bottles in the draft bottled water regulations
has modified as follows: Bottles shall be made of materials which can
be easily recycled and are not harmful to human health. Bottles shall
meet the requirements of the material tests specified in the Korean
Code of Food Standards under the Food Hygiene Act. Ozonic water, steam
and other disinfectants can be used for cleaning bottles, but those
disinfectants shall be completely removed prior to bottling. Cleansers
shall meet the requirements specified in the Public Hygiene Act. 7.
Objective and rationale: To ensure the quality of bottled water. 8.
