This Synopsis cancels N00039-94-0076(Q) which originally appeared in the CBD on 12 April 1994. On 19 June 1995, the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command cancelled solicitation N00039-94-R-0076(Q) for the procurement of super high frequency (SHF) satellite communication (SATCOM) shipboard terminals in order to develop alternative strategies for the acquisition of shipboard SATCOM systems. Alternatives include, but are not limited to, a combination of the following: upgrading existing AN/WSC-6 Phase II terminals for dual carrier operation, procurement of additional large aperture antennas, procurement of low cost SHF terminals, and modification of existing terminals for multi-band capability. Future acquisition strategies will emphasize full and open industry competition, however, in some cases existing competitively awarded contracts may be used. Within the next few months, CBD announcements will provide further details on specific implementation. We encourage full industry participation in the development of any subsequent RFPs. (0172)
