Gomez, (303) 497-5133 In the absence of other qualified sources it is the intent of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to purchase 35 GHz cloud radar electronic components from Radian Corporation, 2900 Center Green Court South, Boulder, CO 80301, under ''other than full and open competition'' procedures, pursuant to 41 USC 253(c)(1) - only one responsible source. NOAA now has a requirement from the National Science Foundation to design and build a millimeter wave radar for the study of clouds, using the technology developed by NOAA and Radian Corporation for NOAA's radar wind profiler system. In addition to this requirement, NOAA may also have another requirement in the near term from the Department of Energy to build two additional cloud radars. The proposed acquisition is for cloud radar electronic components using technology developed for the radar wind profiler system. The components must be compatible with that of the Radian radar wind profilers. The cloud radar electronic components are standard Radian LAP CLD interface chassis, receiver/RF modulator chassis, controller card, and coherent integration card with modifications made for the cloud radar electronics. No other qualified source is known that can meet the Government's minimum requirements. Interested concerns must submit a written qualification statement that clearly establishes the firm's capability to meet the above requirements. This qualification statement shall be submitted to the individual and office cited above within 45 days from the publication date of this synopsis. This is not a formal solicitation.
