tools, materials and equipment necessary for the pick-up and disposal
of infectious waste material at the following VA medical Center
locations: FDR VA Hospital, Montrose, NY, VAMC, Bronx, NY, VAMC,
Brooklyn, NY, VAMC, St. Albans, NY, VAMC, Castle Point, NY, VAMC, East
Orange, NJ, VAMC, Lyons NJ, Brick Out Patient Clinic, Brick, NJ, VAMC,
New York, NY. Price will include one liner per container, all trailer
costs, collecting, inspecting, loading, labor, transportation, and
disposal services in accordance with all federal and state regulations.
This service will render waste unrecognizable and non-hazardous for
disposal as fuel in electrical co-generation and plastics will be
recycled, reducing the waste stream. Contractor will be required to
report back to each medical center the poundage of plastics recycled
which will be reported to the National Center for Cost Containment.
Type of waste covered. Blood and blood products and dialysis waste,
intravenous bags, blood bags and associated tubing,animal tissues, body
parts, and carcasses, human tissues, body parts, and limbs, animal
bedding, contaminated food and other products - pharmacy, dietetics,
biologicals and pharmaceuticals, research waste, laboratory specimens,
pathological waste, or morgue, needles, syrings, and other sharps,
pathology and histology samples, surgery and autopsy waste, or morgue,
isolation waste, aids and hepatitis waste, cultures and slides,
Cytotoxic, antineoplastic, chemotherapy drugs and waste generated by
preparation and administration, pharmacy, nursing units, med and path
labs or morgue, packing materials, gloves and gowns associated with
waste collection and ward areas. Contractor will furnish all necessary
shipping labels as well as completed infectious waste manifests.
Contract period is one year from date of award with four one year
options. A limited number of bid packages will be available on or about
July 15, 1995 and will be issued on a first come first serve basis
until supply is exhausted. The bid opening date is August 18, 1995 at
3:00 pm. This procurement is subject to the availability of FY 96
funds. Requests must be in writing to the contracting officer. Fax and
telephone request will not be accepted. This is an unrestricted
