306-1242. The National Science Foundation is soliciting sealed bids
for the acquisition of 215 computing systems to be awarded to the 1994
Presidential Awardees for Excellence in Science and Mathematics
Teaching. The computing systems shall be acquired per the following
specification: (i) Intel 486DX 66MHz or Motorola 66/33 MHz central
processing unit or equal that is capable of running Microsoft Windows
Ver. 3.11 of higher and Apple MacIntosh System Ver 7.5 operating
systems; (ii) minimum 8 megabytes random access memory; (iii) one
internal hard disk drive, minimum 500 megabytes capacity; (iv) one
internal CD-ROM (minimum double-speed) with sound card and stereo
speakers; (v) minimum internal 14,400 baud fax/data modem; (vi) minimum
14'' multiscan color monitor with .28 dot-pitch or better; (vii)
minimum one 3.5 high density floppy disk drive; (viii) keyboard and
mouse; (ix) operating systems (installed) with manuals -- Microsoft
Windows Ver. 3.11 or higher and Apple MacIntosh Ver. 7.5; (x) office
suite with manuals (either magnetic media or CD-ROM) -- wordprocessing,
spreadsheet, database, communications (including fax, CD-ROM, and
Internet capabilities), personal publishing (drawing and painting), and
dictionary; and (xi) educational suite with manuals (either magnetic
media or CD-ROM) -- a minimum of five titles specific to preparation of
a science and mathematics curriculum (107 for elemenetary school
teachers and 108 for secondary school teachers). The IFB will be
released 15 calendar days following publication of this notice. Bid
opening will be on or about August 1, 1995 at 4 pm local time in Room
470 of the National Science Foundation facility located at 4201 Wilson
Boulevard; Arlington, VA. Contract award is anticipated on or about
September 6, 1995. Delivery of all systems is required by December 31,
1995. Only written requests for the IFB will be honored. Facsimile
