The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Network Systems Corporation (NSC) a contract to acquire up to five years of maintenance, technical support, and optional upgrades on existing NSC equipment and software (acquired previously under various contracts) at 10 IRS Service Centers, 2 IRS Computing Centers and the National Office. NSC has informed the IRS that only Network Systems Corporation can provide maintenance/ support/upgrades for its equipment and software; thus a sole source procurement is necessary. See Note 22.
