Pauline Mallgrave (301) 975-6330 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to enter into a sole source contract with DH Instruments, Incorporated, 1905 West Third Street, Tempe, Arizona under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) - Only one responsible source, to provide a piston gage system capable of operating as a primary pressure standard in the atmospheric pressure dimensional uncertainties in effective area with uncertainties comparable to those of NIST's ultrasonic interferometer manometer (i.e., range no greater than two parts per million at the two-sigma level evaluation in accordance with the ISO Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement). The gage must also be capable of operating with both nitrogen and helium gas in both absolute and gage modes. The starting mass load and pressure must be no greater than 500 grams and 2.5 kPa respectively; the ending pressure must be 175 kPa or higher for both absolute and gage modes. DH Instruments is the only known manufacturer of piston gages capable of meeting the agency's requirements. The required delivery schedule (FOB Destination - Gaithersburg) for this requirement is ninety (90) days from contract award. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.
