Oimoen, (703) 355-2821. The U.S. Army Topographic Engineering Center
(TEC) is requesting information from manufacturers and vendors on
systems that integrate positioning sensors with other data collection
devices for the purpose of collecting spatial data for a Geographic
Information System (GIS). Such a system is referred to as a Terrain
Reconnaissance Tool (TRT). Systems should interface with a
military-grade Precise Positioning Service (PPS) Global Positioning
System (GPS) receiver. Systems should allow for data attribution in
accordance with the Defense Mapping Agency Feature Attribute Coding
Catalog (DMA FACC). Systems should export collected positional and
attribute data to ARC/INFO, GRASS, and Erdas GISs. Systems should
interface with other data collection devices, such as a digital camera
and a laser range finder (with digital compass and inclinometer).
Systems that have a map background display should accept DMA digital
products, GIS formats (ARC/INFO and Erdas), and TIFF raster formats.
