(Code 02), Bldg. 176, 5th Floor, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC
20374-5070 70 -- TAC-X REQUEST FOR COMMENT DUE 070795 POC Contact Point, Mr.
Floyd V. Groce, 202-433-4533 The Department of the Navy has undertaken
an effort to examine areas where commercial technologies have the
potential to cost effectively meet program requirements, and provide
the benefits of commercial practices broadly throughout the Navy's
programs and commands. This effort involves examining commercial
technologies, ordering technologies into related areas, and developing
acquisition strategies to embark on commercial programs in those
technology areas. An Internet web page, at www.nismc.mil, has been
constructed to disseminate the Navy's TAC-X planning information, and
to solicit industry comments and recommendations. The TAC-X World Wide
Web can be accessed by dialing the IP address 204.254.216.31. The Navy
invites detailed and frank dialog with industry regarding the strategy
and content of future commercial information technology acquisitions.
The TAC-X web page includes an industry questionnaire identifying
topic areas for industry comment, and provides instructions for
responding to the TAC-X project office. The Navy expects to incorporate
industry input in the formulation of future acquisitions, and enhance
the partnership between Government and industry. The Navy intends to
extend the dialog with industry throughout the TAC-X process through
the facilities of the TAC-X web page. (0177) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0497 19950627\70-0019.SOL)
