The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking Medical Transcriptionist services to support medical Staff in a correctional setting. Medical Transcriptionist Services will require contractor to have knowledge of specialized medical documentation requirements and have medical/legal significance of the medical record sufficient to identify the proper format (e.g. medical histories, physicals, and consultation, etc.) to ensure internal consistency of the record. Must be capable of recognizing any given medical record form from any given clinician or allied health provider in any given specialty and capable of filing this technical, medical data in the appropriate section of the medical file and/or other file source within the medical department. Must have knowledge of grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling of medical terminology. Must be able to operate specialized telephonic facsimile equipment, automatic typewriting equipment, and shredding equipment. Contractor must have at least a high school diploma and at least 3 months prior medical office experience that included transcription duties. Contractor must verify type of experience and number of years experience. Contractor will be required to perform transcriptionist services at the Federal Correctional Institution and Federal Prison Camp in Manchester, Kentucky for fiscal year 1996 and three option years. This position will work no more than fifteen (15) sessions per week consisting of two (2) hours per session. Anticipted government needs will not exceed 780 sessions per year.
