The work includes inspections and repairs to two steel fuel pipe lines; an eight inch diameter pipe line and a four inch diameter pipe line. The two fuel lines are used to transfer JP-5 jet fuel from storage on the Sea Plane Base to storage on Ault Field. This is a distance of approximately 5.5 miles. The eight inch diameter pipe line will be internally inspected by a metal loss detection tool after minor modifications are made to existing pig launch and retrieval stations and after short radius bends and other obstructions to the tool are removed and corrected. Pipeline pig launch and retrieval stations will be added to the four inch pipeline as well as replacement of some in-line valves. The four inch line will be cleaned, pigged with an obstruction tool, and pressure tested. This contract will also make repairs to the cathodic protection system within the fuel farms and along the fuel pipelines by replacing rectifiers and adding test points. The work includes installation of seismically activated valves and pump shutdowns on both pipelines. Other work includes minor repairs to fuel pipe lines and incidental related work. During performance of this work, asbestos, hazardous waste, or pollution abatement may be encountered. Plans and specifications will be available on or about 26 July 1995 at no charge until supply is exhausted. Contract completion time is 180 calendar days.
