Anthony - Contract Administrator (518) 395-4883. The Knolls Atomic
Power Laboratory (KAPL, Inc.) intends to purchase on a sole-source
basis with Lehigh University's Department of Mechanical Engineering
experimental fluid dynamics data in two simple impinging free shear
layer systems: the open shallow cavity subject to a turbulent boundary
layer and the turbulent jet-edge system. This data is primarily
intended to verify and quantify the limitations of computational fluid
dynamics tools in regimes that result in nearly two-dimensional,
quasi-periodic flow. As such, the Seller must have prior experience
with unsteady impinging shear flows, with publications on both the open
shallow cavity and the jet-edge. In addition, the Seller must have
demonstrated expertise (as evidence by technical publications) in
modelling the key physics of unsteady shear flows. The experimental
tools shall be high resolution, cinematic particle imaging velocimetry
(CPIV), laser doppler velocimetry and dynamic pressure measurements.
Due to the recording density required (less than 100X100 vectors per
frame), the CPIV system must record to film and not to video. The
Seller shall have publications using these methods and must have the
experimental equipment in place. Interested vendors are invited to
submit a written request for this solicitation which includes a
statement of ability to meet the requirements specified herein.
Requests must be in writing and must be postmarked no later than
