CONTRACTORS FOR DESIGN/BUILD BUILDING EXPANSION OF THE TOLEDO, OH P&DC.
SOL 415045-95-A-0391. Due 072895. POC Project Manager, Harold Hazen,

solicitation will be a fixed price design/build. The contractor will
provide the required engineering and design to conform to codes. The
proposed scope of work is an approximate 36,000 square foot addition to
the exisiting mail processing workroom. It will be a one-story steel
frame structure. The exterior walls will be masonry cavity walls with
exterior brick and reinforced concrete block interior. Heating and
cooling will be provided by extending the existing system and adding
new air handlers. The sprinkler system and fire alarm system will be
extended and required to interface with existing systems. The
electrical system will require a new 1000 KVA transformer. Plumbing and
electrical systems to be provided as required. New lighting system will
be full spectrum fluorescent lighting. The existing look-out gallery
will be extended to service the expansion area. Sitework, demolition of
existing parking areas, construction of new parking areas, driveways
and curbcuts and new utilities are included in the contract. Some lobby
renovations will be included to comply with ADA requirements. The
construction costs is valued between $3,000,000 and $3,500,000. All the
work will have to be planned and executed in phases and in close
coordination with local postal officials and in a manner which will
cause the least disruption to postal operations. A 10% design will be
provided with this RFP. The successful firm will be required to develop
a phasing schedule for the approval of the Postal Service. Construction
will be completed within 270 calendar days of construction award. The
construction cost is valued between $3,000,000.00 and $3,500,000.00.

Rust Engineering Company, 441 Smithfield St., Pittsburgh, PA 15222;
Turner Construction Company, 4601 N. Fairfax Ave., Ste 900, Arlington,
VA 22203, and Williams & Associates, PO Box 4604, Macon, Ga
31208-6404. Plans and specifications will be provided to the
prequalified firms only. Subcontractors must contact the firms listed.
Offers will not be publicly opened. The Postal Service reserves the
right to reject any or all offers. Until award of the contract, the
number of proposals received, the identity of the offerors, the amount
of any offer or the relative standing of offers will not be disclosed.
