CNT SSA-RFP-95-2475 The Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to
issue a solicitation for seven (7) automated, non-blocking Matrix
Switching Systems (MSS), to be installed at 7 locations to support
SSA's telecommunications network consisting of: FTS 2000 features and
circuits supporting voice, fax and data rates from 9.6Bps to 1.54Mbps,
and a LAN/WAN infrastructure supporting 802.5 Token Ring (16 Meg). The
MSS must provide; circuit, equipment and port switching functions (any
input to any designated output), access for component adds and drops,
monitor/test, the ability to do reconfigurations, link restorations,
problem determination and resolution, and network diagnostics. The MSS
must be supported by a Network Management System (NMS) that is
software controlled, operates in realtime from a single controlling
platform, be interactive, and menu driven. It also must control the MSS
through a single access point, both locally or remotely, and forward
trouble reporting alarms and alerts in the form of Network Management
Vector Transports (NMVT) request units to the NetView application
resident on the host processors in Baltimore. The MSS must encompass
the requirement for speed and protocol transparency in an environment
of modems, front-end processors, multiplexers, DSU/CSUs, bridges and
routers, work-stations and terminals and support V.35 EIA232, RJ48C and
RJ48S electrical interfaces and IBM Token Ring Type 1 port connections.
