National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is seeking
expressions of interest from industry regarding their capability to
satisfy potential near-term and future launch service needs for NASA
small class scientific payloads. The types of missions which may be
needed include the following: Type 1 - 340 x 955 km., i = 99.3 deg.,
minimum separated mass = 295 kg; Type 2 - 350 x 4200 km., i = 83.0
deg., minimum separated mass = 190 kg; Type 3 - 600 x 650 km., i = 70.0
deg., minimum separated mass = 295 kg; Type 4: 550 x 510 km., i = 38.0
deg., minimum separated mass = 365 kg; Type 5 - 600 km. circular, i =
97.8 deg., minimum separated mass = 250 kg; and, Type 6: 550 x 510
km., i = 38.0 deg., minimum separated mass = 190 kg. Parties possessing
the capability to launch any or all of the mission types described
above are invited to respond to this synopsis and are requested to
submit a capabilities statement describing your approach and experience
with launch systems. Specifically, provide launch vehicle data
including a general description of launch vehicle capabilities, stage
of launch vehicle development/production, launch history, launch sites,
a schedule for the earliest possible launch opportunity, and an overall
risk assessment for meeting your proposed schedule. In addition,
describe your capabilities to satisfy NASA's long term launch needs in
the small payload class as described above. NASA is interested in
innovative technical and business approaches to ensure that launch
support is available when needed to carry out its mission. This is a
request for information only and should not be construed as a
commitment by the Government to enter into a contract for the above
described launch services. Responses may be submitted by FAX to (301)

code 284.9. Responses must be submitted within ten (10) days of the
