Contract Specialist, (202) 324-4528. The Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) is soliciting bids utilizing full and open
competition for roof removal and replacements at buildings 1, 3, 4, 6,
7, and 8 consisting of approximately 75,500 square feet and skylight
removal replacements at buildings 1, 2,& 3 at the FBI Academy, U.S.
Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia. The work consists of, but is not
limited to the following: (1) removal of abestos materials from the
roofing as hazardous waste; (2) removal of existing built-up roofing
materials including insulation, flashing, etc.; (3) removal of
exisiting skylights systems; (4) removal of exisiting electrical
lightning protection; (5) construction of new modified bitumen roofs
including cants, curbs, flashing and associated work; (6) construction
of new skylight systems; (7) construction of new electrical lightning
protection systems; (8) structural reinforcement of steel roof members
for Building 6, Gymnasium; and (9) masonry and concrete repair work at
roof parapets. The estimated cost of this acquisition is between
$1,000,000 and $2,000,000. Performance and payment bonds are required.
The FBI contemplates the award of a firm-fixed price contract as a
result of this solicitation. A pre-bid/site visit conference is
tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, 1995, 10:00 a.m. local time
at the FBI Academy, Quantico, Virginia. Estimated release date for
drawings, specifications and contract documents is Wednesday July 12,
1995. Bid opening is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday August 22, 1995,
3:00 p.m. local time at the FBI Headquarters address below. All
requests for bid documents, drawings and specifications must be in
writing, including company name, contact person, telephone and
facsimile numbers and street mailing address. Requests must also
reference Invitation for Bids (IFB) 6858 and be postmarked no later
than 15 calendars days from the date of this notice. Any request
postmarked after the 15 calendar days will be subject to the
availability of bid packages. There is a two (2) set limit. A
refundable deposit is required in the amount of $250.00 per set,
company checks only. The bidder awarded the resultant contract shall be
subject to background investigations on its company and all individuals
assigned to the project. All inquiries shall be in writing to FBI
Headquarters, Room 6875, J. Edgar Hoover FBI Building, 10th Street and
Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20535, and marked to the
attention of Mr. Mark R. Hazen, Contract Specialist. All bidders are
hereby advised that documents will not be made available for pick-up
from the FBI Headquarters Building. All documents will be sent to
