suppliers to provide NTT with general referential information on
similar products or technology prior to procurement of the intended
product (mentioned below) by NTT. This public notice is also to request
that any suppliers wishing to participate as a subcontractor in the
procurement program of this product should declare their intentions to
that effect. This public notice is not intended to guarantee public
notification of procurement of the product. (1) Name: On-line
transaction processing computer system for large-volume data. (2)
Overview: The intended product is a high-performance, highly reliable,
flexibly extensible computer system that Nippon Telegraph and
Telephone Corporation (hereinafter called ``NTT'') will use primarily
for 24 hour continuous on-line transaction processing of large-volume
data in its major business activities. (3) Contents of RFI: Applicants
are requested to supply NTT with the following information on similar
products, or on technology relating to the product mentioned above.
(All supplied information will be regarded as non-secret information
and may be disclosed to third parties in the form of, for example,
inclusion in the corresponding PROCUREMENT DOCUMENTATION, or may become
available to third parties. In any case, NTT will not assume any
responsibilities for possible disclosure or use of the supplied
information.) (i) Technological information (a) Methods suited for
highly reliable on-line transaction processing of large-volume data
(hardware configuration, software configuration based on UNIX,
specifications, performance, high availability, scalability) (b) Level
of compatibility with Network Management Forum/Service Providers'
Integrated Requirements for Information Technology (NMF/SPIRIT)
specifications (c) Support of WAN (X.25, digital high-speed leased
circuits, frame relay, ATM) and LAN interface (d) Support of OSI (for
each type of WAN) (ii) Prices (product, maintenance, etc.) (iii)
Standard time between ordering and delivery (iv) Sales and installation
history (v) Other related proposals or information that could benefit
NTT business (4) Request for Declaration of the Intention of
Subcontracting. Any suppliers wishing to participate as a subcontractor
in the product procurement program of NTT, is requested to supply NTT
with the information listed below. After preparing a list of supplied
information, NTT will provide the list to applicants who request the
list; those who have responded to the request for supply of the
information listed in Item 2; and to those who have purchased the
PROCUREMENT DOCUMENTATION relating to procurement of the product. NTT,
however, will not assume any responsibility for outcomes arising from
supply of the list. (i) Name of the applicant (ii) Place of Contact
(Address, name of the person in charge, telephone number, and facsimile
number) (iii) The products and/or services that the applicant can
supply as a subcontractor. (5) Deadline for Acceptance of Offers for
Supply of Information and Declaration of Intention to Subcontract: 3:00
