Cochran, 615/576-0787 U.S. Department of Energy requires a contractor to furnish all labor materials and transportation for chemical removal at the Center for Energy and Environment Research (CEER) Sites in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Characterize, repackage, transport and dispose of containerized approximately 100 known chemicals and some with unknown constituents, including approximately 13 gas cylinders. These chemicals were used at the Center for Energy and Environment Research (CEER) facility at the University of Puerto Rico for various research activities. Disposal of this material involves several activities, these include: Classification of the materials (DOT Hazard Class); segregation as to compatibility, hazard class, and disposal requirements; packaging, according to DOT (49 CFR); transportation; and ultimate disposal at a RCRA permitted facility for incineration or treatment. Location of action: Approximately 100 chemicals are located at several CEER facilities in the Research and Development Center, 108 Road, Km 1.1, Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
