C -- MCALLEN, TEXAS - PROCESSING & DISTRIBUTION FACILITY - DESIGN/BUILD - EXPANSION SOL 475450-95-A-0489 DUE 081695 POC H.D. Sartain, Purchasing Specialist, 901/747-7618. The project consists of providing design, construction, and construction administration to construct a new facility of approximately 36,500 net square feet between the existing Processing & Distribution Facility and the existing Carrier Annex Building, integrating all three into a single facility. The demolition portion involves removal of a parking area, dock area, covered walkway, and some utilities. Partial demolition of the existing facilities, in which some materials contain asbestos or lead, is also required. The new construction consists of a concrete foundation, steel frame structure, masonry and gypsum board walls and partitions, and a modified bitumen roof. The interior spaces consist of a workroom area with asphalt planking, office areas, a lunch room, locker and restrooms, and maintenance space. The project will also include a new electrical main distribution system, universal wiring system, roof top HVAC systems, plumbing, sitework, landscaping, irrigation systems, and fencing. The Design/Build contractor will also be responsible for installing a complete fire sprinkler system in the addition as well as in the two existing facilities. No fixed mechanization is required. Offers will be evaluated technically as follows: (1) Expedited Scheduling (2) Architect/Engineer Firms, (3) Construction Contractor, (4) Project Team (5) Design, (6) Experience, (7) Staffing and Resources, and (8) Minority Business Enterprise Participation. Firms determined to be best technically qualified will continue into the price evaluation. A pre-proposal conference/walk through is scheduled for July 25, 1995 at 10 AM at the Processing and Distribution Facility, 620 East Pecan Street, McAllen, Texas. This is a negotiated procurement, therefore, offers will not be publicly opened. Issue date for the above project is July 7, 1995. Return date for the above project is August 16, 1995. Performance Time is 240 days. Estimated Cost Range is between $3,000,000 to $4,000,000. The cost of the plans and specifications for the above project is $100 per set. This charge is non-refundable.
