206/453-5000. CH2M HILL under its ARCSWEST contract No. 68-W9-0031 with
the Environmental Protection Agency is soliciting interested parties to
provide geotechnical drilling services at the Bunker Hill Superfund
Site in Kellogg, Idaho. The subcontractor shall provide a drill rig
capable of advancing hollow-stem augers up to a maximum boring depth of
70 feet. Subsurface conditions are expected to consist of medium dense
to very dense sand, silty sand and gravel materials. For each boring,
standard penetration tests shall be performed at 5-foot intervals.
Depending on soil conditions encountered other sampling methods such as
Dames and Moore sampling and Shelby tubes will be required. Soil
samples will be collected by the subcontractor and logged by CH2M HILL.
The subcontractor will be required to submit a Site-Specific Health and
Safety Plan (SSHP) prior to commencing the field investigation at the
site. It is expected that all work associated with this investigation
will be performed under Level D personal protection equipment. Borings
for this investigation will be located at three distinct portions of
the site: 1) Central Impoundment Area, 2) Shoshone County Airport, and
Smelterville Flats. Some of the borings will be completed with a
