Hannigan, Contracting Officer, (507) 272-7205 The Panama Canal Commission, an agency of the United States Government, is interested in negotiating a firm fixed-price construction contract to furnish seven (7) new Stoplogs, a pick-up beam, four (4) stoplog guides, twenty-four (24) stoplog guide bases, and appurtenances. Maximum weight to be handled is 150 Tons (Stoplog No. 7 plus pick-up beam), maximum dimensions are: 115 ft. width, 17 ft. depth, and 22 ft. height (stoplog No. 1 plus pick-up beam). The stoplog guide bases and stoplog guides shall be installed at the Panama Canal locks, Republic of Panama. The stoplogs will be used at each locks at (Gatun, Pedro Miguel and Miraflores) existing caisson seats to dewater the locks chambers in lieu of using a caisson. Solicitation documents will be available on or about August 1, 1995 at the Panama Canal Commission, Engineering and Construction Bureau, Engineering Division, Unit 2300, APO AA 34011-2300, Phone (507)-272-7949, Fax (507)-272-2750. Each request must be accompanied by a company or bank check, made out to Treasurer, Panama Canal Commission, for $50.00 U.S. for each set of specifications and the associated drawings. The site visit has been scheduled for September 18, 1995. Opening of proposals is scheduled for November 7, 1995. Responsible sources meeting the following conditions will be considered: AISC Quality Certification Program Class III fabricators, with capability to plan and successfully fabricate, handle, and deliver the new stoplogs, pick-up beam, stoplog guides and install guide bases underwater in the locks with the least interruption to canal operations. Interested parties shall submit price proposal; type and size of installations; handling, welding and testing equipment; machinery and fabrication equipment; experience in the construction of stoplogs, bulkheads, dams, gates, valves or similar hydraulic structures. Evaluation/Award criteria will be contained in the solicitation. Award will be made to the responsible offeror whose proposal is most advantageous to the Government, technical, price, and other factors considered (Best Value). (0188)
