Box 25287, Denver, CO 80225 is seeking to negotiate and award a
contract pursuant to the authority described at 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1)
and FederalAcquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 (a) (2) Only One
Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services will Satisfy the
Agencies Requirements. The contractwill be negotiated with E.T.
Techtonics, Philadelphia, PA to provide for two pedestrian bridges
described as follows: GENERAL: a. Two fully engineered clearspan
bridges of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) construction with timber
decking.2.DIMENSIONS: a. Spans of 80 feet and 40 feet. b. Bridge inside
deck width shall be 4 feet. c. Railing Height shall be 36 inches above
bridge deck. 3. DESIGN: a. Bridge mounting clips to be made of A36
galvanized steel. b. Supportstructure may be shipped in sections. c.
Components of the support structure cannot exceed 30 feet or 75 pounds.
4. ENGINEERING: a. Bridge shall be designedfor a minimum uniform live
load of 60 pounds per square foot. b. Wind loading shall be taken as 20
pounds per square foot on an open frame type structure. c. Deflection
requirements: Live Load = L/360; Dead Load + Live Load = L/180. d.
Vibration Requirements: Minimum frequency of the system should not be
less than 5 cycles per second. e. Bridge Support Structure shall be
fabricated from high strength E-glass and isophthalic polyester resin.
Weathering and ultraviolet light protection shall be provided by
addition of a Nexus Veil to the laminate construction. f. Minimum
Material Specifications are as follows: Tension -20,000 psiCompression
- 20,000 psiShear - 5,500 psiBending - 20,000 psiYoung's Modulus (E)
- 2,500,000 psi 5. FOUNDATIONS: a. Engineering design and construction
of the bridge supporting foundations will be the responsibilityof the
National Park Service. 6. DELIVERY AND ERECTION: a. Bridge
Manufacturer shall be responsible for the delivery and unloading of the
bridges at the Kipahula area of Haleakala National Park, Hawaii. b.
National Park Service shall be responsible for the erection of the
bridges. All work shall be directed by NPS Policy and Directive.
Responses must be received within 30 calendar days from the date of
this publication to be considered for selection. This is not a request
