AMRAAM SHIPPING AND STORAGE CONTAINERS, The Air-to-Air Joint Systems Program Office is contemplating an Invitation For Bid (IFB) for CNU-431 containers - Specification No. SP8644140 -Dimensions: 174'' X 38'' X 19'', Weight: 617 lbs. This acquisition will consist of 125 CNU-431(V)2/Es (2 preproduction, 123 production). Preproduction deliveries are required 28 weeks after contract award. Delivery of production units to start 45 weeks after contract award with delivery of 6 containers per week until completed. Two variable quantity FMS options to be exercised at first article are for CNU-431/E and CNU-431(V)1/E containers in quantities of 100-180, 144 most probable and 5 24, 7 most probable, respectively. Two variable quantity options to be exercised after initial delivery of units under the basic contract start will be for CNU-431(V)3/E and CNU-431(V)2/E containers in quantities of 150-200, 168 most probable and 100-150, most probable 125, respectively. Two variable quantity FMS options also scheduled to be exercised after initial deliveries under the basic contract start will be for CNU-431/E and CNU-431(V)1/E containers in quantities of 130-252, 220 most probable and 5-24, 8 most probable. The final variable quantity option for CNU-431(V)3/E containers to be exercised after completion of all basic contract deliveries is for 100-180, 144 most probable. Deliveries on options shall begin 24 weeks after exercise at 6 containers per week until completed. Delivery of containers will be to Tucson AZ, Chambersburg PA, Inglewood CA, and operational sites to be determined. The containers are all aluminum with non-explosive polyethylene cushions. They are fabricated from double-wall aluminum extrusions which serve as the sides and ends of the container. The bottom portion is sheet aluminum, welded to a skid section which provides for forklift entry. The container is sealed with a silicon ''O'' ring gasket. Pressure relief valve and humidity indicators are included. The top and bottom are held together with special latches. The CNU-431(V)2/E and CNU 431(V)3/E container design includes adding a internal electrical cable set to interface missiles through the desiccant port. Specification and drawing packages for the container and cable will be a part of the IFB. Anticipated IFB issuance date is 25 Jul 95. Responses to this synopsis must be received within 15 days from date of publication.
