The FAA Tech Center intends to acquire a Fire Test Calorimeter which measures heat release rate, total heat released and effective heat of combustion using the oxygne consumption principle. Calorimeter must also measure mass loss rate, time-to-ignition, specific extinction area of smoke, carbon monoxide and dioxide production during the burning of materials exposed to radiant heat fluxes from a conical heater of 0-100 kW/m2. Instrument must meet ASTM E-1354, E-1474, NBSIR-82-2611, ISO 5660, and NFPA 264A. Instrument will support the Fire Research Branch at the Tech Center for fire testing of aircraft cabin materials in support of the Fire-Resistant Materials Program.
