Lippire, 801/974-3444. The USDA Forest Service, Geometronics Service
Center is issuing a Source Search to locate software that will enable
us to perform inspection and edit of digital cartographic data, create
and maintain a database, retrieve from the database and process
cartographic data into number of different formats for GIS and other
input. The current automated mapping environment consists of a variety
of Intergraph Corp. RISC based workstations and servers. These systems
use the CLIX (UNIX)-POSIX operating system with advanced windowing
capability. The core graphics software used for visual edit and
inspection is Microstation which utilizes the Intergraph Design File
format. Data structure and integrity are checked using Intergraph's
Modular GIS Environment (MGE) and in-house developed edit programs. MGE
provides a set of tools for checking digital line work in preparation
for spatial analysis. Hardcopy symbolized edit plots are created using
Iplot from Intergraph and in-house developed plotting software. Output
is sent to a Versatec electrostatic plotter or a Calcomp pen plotter.
Final map layer are output to an Intergraph film writer. All
workstations and servers are connected via a Local Area Network (LAN)
using TCPIP and XNS protocols. Anyone wishing to submit information or
