COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 14,1995 PSA#1388Naval Research Laboratory (NRL-SSC), ATTN: Code 3250:RDS, Stennis Space
Center, MS 39529-5004 66 -- INFRARED ASTROMETRIC CAMERA SYSTEM SOL N00014-95-R-RS04 DUE
081195 POC Contract Specialist, Richard D. Sewell; Contracting Officer,
John W. Adams,III; 601-689-8990. The Naval Research Laboratory has a
requirement for a 1024 x 1024 Indium Antimonide (InSb) 0.7-5 micrometer
Infrared Astrometric Camera (ASTROCAM) to extend the small angle
astrometric capabilities developed at the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO)
to near infrared wavelengths using infrared array technology.
Specifically, the required ASTROCAM will be used to investigate the
accuracy and flux limits to which astrometry may be carried using large
area infrared focal plane arrays. The ASTROCAM system will consist of
the following components: (a) a government-furnished 1024 x 1024 InSb
Aladdin array with 27-micron pixels; (b) re-imaging 1:1 Offner
reflective optics with Lyot stop and baffles; (c) a closed-cycle
cryocooled housing that maintains the Aladdin detector at 35 K, the
optics at 77 K, and both enclosed in a 77 K or colder shield; (d) cold
internal filter wheels, external stepper motors, and controllers to
change filters and pupil plane reimaging optics; (e) a temperature
control subsystem to permit both remote, computer control of array
temperature and monitoring of array and cryostat temperatures; (f) an
array electronics support subsystem providing functions which will
include but may not be limited to bias voltages and level shifted
clocking waveforms; (g) a data acquisition subsystem including
preamplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, fiber-optic transceivers
and links, and hardware/software necessary to synchronize conversions,
format, transfer and store data; (h) a signal processing subsystem
capable of performing co-addition of frames, fundamental image
arithmetic, sample subtraction, and implementation of multiple sample
noise reduction algorithms; and (i) a VME-based single board computer
operating under the UNIX operating system to control all subsystems, to
perform observing tasks issued via serial links by the host computer,
and to provide processed data to the host via a high-speed link. The
Government is seeking one (1) system. Detailed specifications will be
included in the solicitation package. Prospective offerors should
request, in writing, a copy of RFP/solicitation number
N00014-95-R-RS04. RFP will be issued approximately fifteen (15) days
after publication of this notice, with solicitation closing thirty days
after issuance. Only written or telefaxed requests are acceptable.
Telefax number: (601) 689-8960. All responsible sources responding to
this solicitation will be considered. The Government will not pay for
any documents or information received as a result of this notice or the
associated solicitation package. (0193) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0604 19950713\66-0002.SOL)
